One thing I will say, though. I have noticed a lot of monks (and this is especially true in the Temple of Ages) being very arrogant and obnoxious. Because they are needed, they think that they are more important than everyone else. So this is not one-sided. I think both sides need to relax, calm down, and remember that it's just a game.
the monk cant do anything else. you should put up with it and deal with the attitude. give them that satisfaction at least.

aye, i've just recently started a new monk char, so far its only happened once, but i had a stone summit crusher attacking me and this person had called on the engineer (who doesn't fight back, so doesn't need to die) i pointed this out and said i'd prefer it if they left engineers till last and i was called a newb, by the end she was calling me a "newb" monk and saying she knows what it takes to be a true monk from beta tests. Anyway i find it funny that they're rushing in from all sides, at one point decide to split up, and the blame still goes on me even though i'm out of mana and getting my divine boon enchantments stripped.

Next time your in a mission with a monk that is working his butt off, tell him thanks & show him the love!!!
Yep I've seen this happen before in PvE parties I've lead, although everytime I try my very best to get the other party members to listen to the monk's energy calls. I mean it's a matter of our own survival for God's sake! If we don't wait for the monk then we're just inviting our own downfall, at least that's the way I see it.

I've just started a new monk character and I'm going to be wary of groups that treat their monks like shit .

I just annoy the idiots with vengance look here for what I mean. The context applies a little differently but I think that you can get the idea.

The Benifit:
First no more DP for the person vengance is used on for the rest of the time.

You can stop the idiot who apolgizys (sorry for spelling) to get resed and then continues to be annoying because if he continues with his stupidity you ust leave him dead.

Its great fun to watch people fall over for no apparent reason and then wonder what happened.

Run around fissure like this its actually quite fun and as no dp is added half the time you just dont heal the idiots so what if they only kill 1 guy per vengance use it just takes a while.

HAHA omg I love it. I used it the other day cause I wanted to keep my elite skill open for Word of Healing, so I left Unyielding Aura at home and brought Vengeance. I used it and the female tank toppled over with all the same questions we've seen before.

"WTF!"
"Wow, i didn't even get a DP for that death"
"What just happened?"

You'd think she just got visited by an alien or something. Oh yeah, I was also called a noob for letting someone die, because it seemed to them that the two monks were only healing one person. Sigh. It's part of the territory.

Meanest thing I did as a monk:

Stupid warrior chided me for using Smite Hex on her. I stopped healing her and instead focussed all healing on the melee mesmer(I know, not a smart build), who was her friend btw. Stupid warrior kept dying as a result and after endless dying and probably -60 dp she left. Then I announced...."my my what a weak warrior" and the melee mesmer says, "I agree and I'm a mesmer tanking and didn't even die"....ROTFLMAO.

My monk receives quite a bit of love though...

I usually defend the monks by saying something along the lines of "Monks are not your slaves" as long as the monks themselves are not asses

Seriously though, I've said it before and I'll say it again...most non-monks are too reliant on the monk to survive...all professions have some form of damage reduction and/or healing...but few players know how to use them effectively.

The two professions which are closely tied are monk and warrior though since most of the healing required is by the warrior(tank) who is supposed to take the most damage. This is one reason I loathe playing in groups with more than two warriors since they will all be taking too much damage for me to heal effectively.

If you think thats fun this is even better. Use Unyielding Aura and whenever the person gets annoying just turn it off. They fall over dead. Its really great when you have the guy who just cant help aggroing. Whenever hes about to aggro turn Unyielding Aura off and he wont aggro anything They learn quickly this way.

Well most monks want to be treated like princess. I feel sorry for those who aren't. Personally I have met many monk players who're not only terrible, but also rude, and has no sense team work. These monks also leave at the first sign of trouble, creating trouble in the team.

Personally I don't care about monks in PvE, the henchies can handle their jobs better than most PCs I know. Moreover they're guaranteed never to quit, never to bitch, and the rests.

^^to Malchiel as fantras couldnt wait 2 miniutes.
someone doesn't play a monk.

The good monks dont want to be treated like princesses but when you say I have 2 of 40 energy and then the idiot goes and aggros 3 groups well we get pretty bitchy after they say its our fault that they died.

And I never leave my team.

If you think that the henchi healers are good you have never been on a team with a real good healer.

EDIT: Dumb Fantras beat me.

Henchies are never good, but they're more than adequate in PvE.

And yes there're good monks, but that's only like what 30-20% of the monks out there?

My experience is that, it's better to stick with healer hench, unless absolutely necessary.

I agree but luckly I'm in a good guild with lots of good monks so I don't have to worry very much.

As for the number of good monks out their its probanly closer to 10% as lots of people just made monks and they suck with them.

I think the same thing about Tank Henchman if it makes you feel any better.

Comments about my healing prowess doesn't bother me - I know how good I am. It does however help me to identify the noobs, which is great for prioritising heals fo rthe greater good of the team.

I just wish people would learn that whether a monk is good or bad is irrelevant. If he couldn't keep you alive the first time you charged head-first into a large group, then chances are he won't the second time either when you've 15% less hit points. Too many people are like goldfish in this game; continually swimming head first into the side of the bowl and saying wtf?!
